One of the questions Digital World TPV customers in Badalona and Barcelona ask us most is this: is a Windows or an Android terminal better? There's no single answer — it depends on the type of business, but there are clear criteria for deciding.
Windows: power and compatibility
A Windows POS works like a full computer: you can install practically any management software, connect multiple peripherals (scales, barcode scanners, fiscal printers) and work with several windows at once. It's the usual choice for higher-volume businesses, those with a complex ERP behind them, or those that already have specific invoicing software that only runs on Windows.
Android: speed and simplicity
An Android POS starts up in seconds, uses much less battery, barely needs maintenance, and usually costs less than an equivalent Windows one. It's the option that has grown fastest in recent years in small shops, restaurants and neighborhood businesses, because it prioritizes simplicity: turn it on, check out, close the register.
Windows
- Compatible with almost any software
- Ideal for high volume and complex ERP systems
- True multitasking, several windows at once
Windows — worth considering
- Higher cost
- More power consumption and slower startup
- Requires more maintenance (antivirus, updates)
Android
- Fast startup, low power consumption
- Barely needs maintenance
- More affordable price
Android — worth considering
- Not all management software has an Android version
- Less room for complex multitasking
- Worth checking compatibility before choosing
What about Verifactu?
Here's the good news: both systems can comply with Verifactu, as long as the installed invoicing software is certified by the Tax Agency. The regulation doesn't require a specific operating system — it requires that the program issuing the invoices be certified and generate the corresponding record with its QR code.
Our recommendation
Small or medium business
Shop, restaurant, call center, hair salon — if you prioritize speed, low maintenance and good pricing, an Android POS is usually the most practical option today.
Business with high volume or specific software
If you manage several interconnected points of sale, or already depend on specific software that only runs on Windows, that remains the safer option.
At Digital World TPV we work with both systems, already prepared for Verifactu. If your business is in Catalonia or Barcelona and you're not sure which one suits you, write to us: we'll help you choose, no obligation, based on the type of business you have and how you work day to day.
